What charity or cause are you personally passionate about and why?
So many of my loved ones, both close friends and family, have been affected by cancer. I always find myself gravitating toward organizations raising funds for or supporting cancer-fighting efforts. I am typically on at least one Relay for Life team annually and love participating in fun events such as Cancer Awareness Night for the St. Louis Cardinals. While in college, I also worked to raise awareness and funds for an organization that sent children with chronic illnesses to summer camps and applied that passion for helping make children well during an internship with Children's Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis.
What is the coolest concert you have ever attended and why?
As a HUGE country music fan, the coolest concert I have ever attended was definitely Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. I took my sister who is nine years younger than me, and we went all out - wearing handmade, matching 1989 t-shirts! The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and sharing it with my sister made it all the more special. We may have paid an arm and a leg for the tickets, but it was so worth it!
What do you like most about working at Incite?
Although most of my previous experience is in nonprofit development, it has always been a dream of mine to work in radio. I was sold on Incite when I discovered I could work for a company that uses radio and other mediums to truly make a difference in our community. Plus, working here with other dedicated, creative minds surrounds me with the ultimate environment for success!
When you are not working, what kinds of things do you like doing?
The creativity that I put into my work does not stop there. In my free time, I am likely crafting, paiting, or sorting through antiques at thrift shops and craft fairs. I really want to be Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper on HGTV! I also enjoy being outdoors in almost any capacity. I love visiting beautiful hiking trails and national parks, hunting, camping, or just enjoying a cocktail on the beach. If I can do any of those things and include my family and friends then I am in heaven.
Why is making a difference in people's lives important to you?
I have had so many positive influences in my life, and the one thing that inspired me most about those people was their ability to recognize the most important thing in life is for each of us to be the good we want to see in the world. Before I had any idea what I wanted to do as a career, I knew it had to be at a place where I was serving others and doing my part to spread that kind of positivity and change. We are all in this together and should look after one another in any way we know how. Small changes can bring about big things - and my best days are when I am able to positively touch another life.
